Free Digital Skills Training Available

IT training is available and free for many people, including those on low incomes, receiving benefits, or facing other barriers to learning. See details in the article in the link above.

A series of Microsoft 365 training will commence on 20th November. This cohort will be delivered online, with in person sessions in Bridgwater, Taunton & Minehead, taking place in the New Year.

Free Digital Skills Training – Helping You Do More Online

Do you or someone you know find digital technology a bit tricky? Whether it’s filling in online forms, sending emails, using spreadsheets, or keeping track of appointments – we’re here to help.

We’re offering free Digital Skills training to help people feel more confident using everyday digital tools, both at home and in the community.

Why it matters

Learning digital skills can make a big difference. It can help you:

  • Access housing and benefit services online
  • Manage bills and finances safely
  • Apply for jobs or training
  • Stay in touch with friends, family, and local groups
  • Feel more confident and less isolated

What you’ll learn

Our friendly sessions cover useful tools like:

  • Microsoft Teams – Chat and share files
  • Microsoft Word – Write letters and fill in forms
  • Microsoft Outlook – Organise emails and appointments
  • Microsoft Excel – Track spending and make simple budgets
  • Microsoft PowerPoint – Create presentations
  • Plus other helpful tools like FormsTo DoSwayLists, and OneNote

Who can join?

Anyone living in Somerset can take part. We offer both online and in-person sessions, with small groups and a relaxed, supportive atmosphere.

Free for many people

You may qualify for free training if you:

  • Are on a low income (under £25,750/year)
  • Receive Universal Credit, JSA, or ESA
  • Don’t yet have a full Level 2 qualification or Level 2 in English, maths, or IT
  • Are a carer, care leaver, or have a learning difficulty, disability, or mental health challenge
  • Are a refugee, asylum seeker, or unwaged dependent
  • Are retired or not currently working and on a lower income

Sessions are friendly, informal, and designed to help you feel at ease.
